Vend of the Line BL4 Mission Guide and How to Complete It

The Vend of the Line mission in Borderlands 4 offers players a unique puzzle-solving adventure across Kairos. By tracking down glitched vending machines, Vault Hunters can unlock access to high-tier rewards for a fraction of their normal cost. Completing this objective requires patience, careful inventory management, and an understanding of color-coded clues.
Starting the Mission in Carcadia
To begin the quest, travel to Carcadia City and locate the reporter bot Penelope Streams interviewing a Vault Gatherer. She stands near a broken gun vending machine that holds the first clue. Speaking with the gatherer sets off a planet-wide scavenger hunt to piece together a master coordinate code.
The initial machine requires you to interact with its rear panel to inspect the sequence. You must sell two green-tier items followed by two blue-tier items to force a glitch. Successfully inputting this sequence grants the first segment of the coordinate clue.
Solving the Intermediate Vending Machine Puzzles
The next destination takes players southeast toward the Crumblehall and Dusty Dangler regions. At Crumblehall, you will find a machine trapping an unfortunate Vault Gatherer underneath its heavy frame. Following the red environmental arrows leads you to the hidden code combination written near a nearby window ledge.
At the Dusty Dangler location, clear out the surrounding enemies before examining the machine's wiring. Following the clue patterns requires selling specific item rarities in exact succession. Once completed, the final clue directs you along a heavy power cable running toward a locked seaside structure.
Defeating Vend Zane and Claiming Rewards
Following the power cable leads into an underground chamber where Vault Gatherers have gathered. Upon approaching the glowing terminal, the machine transforms into a hostile boss named Vend Zane. You must defeat this combatant in battle to finally unlock its vendor interface.
After the fight, you can purchase top-tier weapons for just one dollar, but caution is required. Players should avoid selling unwanted inventory items directly to this final terminal, as doing so can prematurely lock the machine. Selling three green items first satisfies the final requirement needed to claim your choice of legendary loot safely.
