Navigating Drangleic in Dark Souls 2 Scholar of the First Sin requires a clear understanding of zone order and key item locations. Unlike the original release, this edition alters enemy placements and key item requirements, creating a fresh challenge for both new and returning players. Establishing an efficient route helps adventurers avoid unnecessary backtracking while maintaining a steady level progression.

Starting in Majula and Early Game Routes

After waking up in Things Betwixt, players should make their way directly to the hub town of Majula. From here, the most effective initial path leads to the Forest of Fallen Giants to unlock the blacksmith and acquire basic gear. Securing your first Estus Flask upgrade early ensures better survivability during tough initial encounters.

Once the Last Giant and the Pursuer are defeated, players can either ride the bird nest to the Lost Bastille or head toward Heide's Tower of Flame. Defeating the Dragonrider grants access to Licia of Lindelt, who can unlock the path to Huntsman's Copse. Clearing these early zones sets up a strong foundation for acquiring primary souls.

Collecting the Four Great Souls

Progressing through the mid-game requires defeating four major bosses located across distinct regions. Navigating through the Lost Bastille and Sinner's Rise leads to the Lost Sinner, one of the primary targets. Meanwhile, descending through the Gutter into Black Gulch allows players to challenge the Rotten.

The remaining two great souls reside past Huntsman's Copse and the Pit in Majula. Venturing through Earthen Peak leads into Iron Keep to confront the Old Iron King, while exploring Shaded Woods eventually leads to Brightstone Cove Tseldora for the Duke's Dear Freja encounter. Collecting all four great souls unlocks the Shrine of Winter.

Reaching Drangleic Castle and King's Passage

Passing through the Shrine of Winter grants entry into the grand halls of Drangleic Castle. Players must navigate its treacherous corridors to defeat the Twin Dragonriders and the Looking Glass Knight. Completing this area provides access to the Shrine of Amana, a region requiring high mobility and ranged defense.

Beyond the shrine lies the Undead Crypt, where players encounter Velstadt and retrieve the King's Ring from King Vendrick's chamber. This essential key opens several sealed doors across Drangleic, including the path toward Aldia's Keep. Securing the ring is pivotal for advancing into the final stages of the campaign.

Unlocking the Ancient Dragon and Final Battles

Equipped with the King's Ring, players must venture through Aldia's Keep to reach the Dragon Aerie and Dragon Shrine. Interacting with the Ancient Dragon yields the Ashen Mist Heart, allowing entry into the memories of fallen Giants located in the Forest of Fallen Giants. Defeating the Giant Lord inside the memory yields the Giant's Kinship.

With the Giant's Kinship in hand, the final path opens beneath Drangleic Castle at the Throne of Want. Adventurers must face the Throne Watcher and Throne Defender, followed immediately by Nashandra. Defeating these final bosses concludes the journey through Drangleic, ending the curse's cycle.
